Sac United U16G Extreme 93 Girls
Win Championship at Nomads Thanksgiving Tournament in San Diego
November, 2008

The tournament weekend started with heavy traffic, numerous travel delays, pouring rain and flooded fields. To get to the finals, the team played four very physical tough games against Southern California teams and allowed only two goals all weekend.

The preliminary games scores were: 2-0 vs. FC Bratz, 1-0 vs. Inter Murrieta GU16, 0-0 against West Coast United Blue.

The semi-final game was a rematch against the Inter Murrieta GU16 who started the game very strong scoring first. The teams traded goals in a seesaw match with the Extreme ahead 3-2 at the end of the game.

The championship game was played at UCSD against hometown rival, the San Juan Spirits 93 White. Both teams came out ready for battle, which resulted in a very fast-paced, physical game. The only goal was text-book execution: a through ball from center mid-field, threaded through the defenders on the ground to the corner flag, a negative cross from the right forward through the box past the goalie, with a finishing hard shot into the net by the center forward. The Championship win was a team effort with contributions and hard play by all of the girls.
